Loading... Please wait...The objective of this section is to provide advice on what and when different varieties are suitable for planting in your region. You will be aware that there are local conditions that affect your climate such as frost in valleys, strong winds and aspect with respect to the sun and this should be taken into consideration. Similarly, within the same group of vegetables, lettuce for example, there are some that tolerate heat or cold better than others and you should make you choices accordingly.
The climate map below has 6 zones but I will provide information on four of these as per the links below. Those in the zone covering south central Australia (hot dry summer, cold winter) should use the temperate (warm summer, cool winter) recommendations but be aware of the frost and heat tolerance of chosen varieties as should those in the north central parts of Australia (hot dry summer, mild winter).
I will generally only give a group of vegetables that are suitable for planting, tomato for example, but you should take this as meaning all tomatoes, subject to the comments regarding tolerance above.
